Responding to Trauma

A 5 day workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal

‘how do we be alongside those who are and have been violated and are suffering-responding to injustices?’

In this five day workshop we will explore

  • the politics of trauma

  • the effects of trauma on people’s bodies, sense of self, their relationships and hopes

  • people’s and communities responses in face of trauma

  • pay close attention to the wisdom of our bodies and breath

  • explore  the Absent but Implicit map of narrative practices to develop richer stories of communities and people’s know-hows in response to violence

  • and look closely at trauma informed practices.

In the workshop the techniques of common thread trauma intervention will also be explored.

Common thread is a narrative textile to respond to trauma where we create story cloth to express what might otherwise be “inexpressible” without focusing on words. It gives a way to be witnessed and heard for the experiences we have endured and the insights we have gained.
